My PS2 makes grinding noises whenever I put in a CD game or whatever CD, sometimes it will give me a disc read error, sometimes it won't, it usually does though. Do you know how to fix this?

Solution
The reason why your fat ps2 is making grinding noises for CDs is because the PS2 has a little white magnet I think it's called that, it wears out overtime and it's harder for it to spin discs properly and read, since CD's are thinner than DVDs and bluray discs
A solution to this would be to either replace the magnet, which you can find online or do a temp fix
For the magnet fix, you would open up your PS2 and its optical drive and replace the white piece in the middle with a newer one
The temporary fix would to apply tape on the sides of the disc in the middle when you want to use it, this will clean out the grinding or reduce it atleast, and will cause less disc read errors

I think I'll go with the tape method for now, I don't wanna bother my friend for another PS2 part, lol, I'll ask him tomorrow, thanks again! I can tell you have lots of experience with PlayStations
