PS3 and Yamakasi

I have the famous korean "Yamakasi Q270" and am trying to figure out how I will be connecting it to my ps3 so I can start playing GTA V again. I bought this cable, but it did not seem to work, but tried the cable with my other 1080p monitor to see if the cable was faulty, but worked perfectly. Can anyone suggest what to do and why the cable did let the ps3 recognize the yamakasi? Thanks

What is the resolution you are currently running the PS3? The reason I ask is because when I wanted to use my PS3 on my monitor (1920x1080 via HDMI) from my old TV (just the regular Yellow/White/Red plugs that come with the console) I had to hook both up at the same time and switch the PS3 to the new resolution "live" (wouldn't work if I just left the PS3 plugged into the TV and set the resolution and lost image, turned it off and plugged it into the monitor)

Well I have the ps3 set to 1080p, but also tried setting it up to 720p default before I hooked it up to the Yamakasi, still nothing.

Basically that monitor has no built-in scaling. So you need something that can scale up to 2560 x 1440 (PS3 1080p MAX)
