So, i delidded the cell processor and the gpu using a hair dryer and a flat piece of metal. After i cleaned up the bad TIM and apply new one i put the ps3 back together and turn it on. It worked but nothing happens on the screen everything was black. The Ps3 shuts down after 1 minute and the red led light stop burning. The controller did not connect himself to the Ps3. What could be wrong? Later, when I opened the playstation. I saw some TIM on the motherboard. Is this the reason why the Ps3 won't boot up anymore?

Sorry for my English, it's not my native language.

While having spilled TIM on a PCB is never a good thing, it does depend on the type of paste you used and whether or not it is conductive or not. Most of the newer stuff is not including Arctic Silver despite the element silver being a highly conductive metal (in fact some tests have proven it is the most electrically conductive).

I would guess that you may have installed the heat sink incorrectly or did not tighten it all the way. It could also be the cooling fan. Like the Xbox 360, the way your PS3 is behaving is indicative of overheating.

It's probably toast without a proper reflow. There is almost no time you should ever remove the lid on a PS3, and if you do, you need thermal adhesive to properly secure it back down, especially over the RAM chips on the GPU. As for the CPU, it's almost impossible to get off without damaging it. I've tried with a proper heat gun and even an IR station and it's hard, nevermind a hair dryer. The hair dryer probably didn't even heat up the thermal adhesive sony used properly and you more than likely ripped it off than deliding it properly.

When i installed the heat sink 2 screw broke off. I put the Ps3 on and the fan starded to blow very hard. Later i put a plate off copper between the cpu die and the ihs and everything was normal.

But the strange thing is. My tv can see the Ps3 as a Anynet device. Only it can not connect to the Ps3.

Did you do anything to the GPU? Is the RAM heatsink installed properly?

Yes i delidded the gpu. And i put new tim on the ram.

You probably toasted it. As I said, I've fixed over a 1000 PS3's and deliding is one of the hardest things to do without breaking the solder connections, or under the board, especially when it comes to the Cell Processor. GPU is no problem to pop off, but the Cell uses a different kind of thermal epoxy this I don't think a hair dryer will even touch. No video could be either hte Cell processor can't fully init, or the GPU isn't connection because of solder joints.

Deliding the PS3 is only a last ditch effort really. Why did you do it in the first place and not just replace thermal paste on the spreaders.

Because it was very hot. Even after apply new thermal paste that's why. But do you guys think a oven will do the trick? Because i heard that the soldern get hot and melt again.
