ps3 external fan install

Has anyone ever connected a 12v fan, say like out of a computer, to the internal 12v fan on a ps3 fat? The ext. has 3 wires, pos., neg. and a fan speed wire. Which is what the wires coming off the internal fan are as well. So, could the ext. wires be spliced into the internal fan wires without damage or loss of power? Would both fans speed up as needed? thanx

Chances are the current fan is brink on the limit of the current output.

Try adding more and you might brick the system. I'd recommend changing the thermal paste instead.

I just recently changed the thermal paste. It kept the fan from speeding up as fast, but it still does. The int. fan doesnt always run at 12v from what i understand.
