Hello,
I ran into a issue with my PS3 when trying to install a fan mod for it as it was reaching high temperatures. However in the process I broke the fan connector of the main board and now can't use my PS3 as this will as a result cause YLOD. I was wondering what could I do to repair this issue. I do not have much expertise in doing DIY fixes on ps3's so really would appreciate help.

Not sure if you can see properly but the there is a bit of track that is slightly coming of the pcb in the picture, that has now fully came off the board in the last image.

Thanks for your help.

The last image shows the track that was present and has now gone so more is missing.

Solution
In a word (or two) 'wire glue ' mate
As long as you have a bit off copper or solder still showing each end of that missing trace you can make a new connecting trace using this stuff.

Search it on eBay or the like - little tub is around $5
Paint a new trace , leave an hour to dry , repaint again 3 or 4 times.
Reoaried many many console pcb's in the past where solder isn't practical , you're looking a minimal current running yo those fan points do it will do the job fine IMO.
Basically the connector came off the board and now as a result you can see what has happened in the pictures. I am asking what could I do to get the fan working again like before, would soldering it back straight on do the trick. I wasn't so sure as I thought the track had been damaged to badly.

Solution
So will applying the wire glue also allow the connector which came of the board to stick back down into place?

Also would be soldering also be a method which would? If so how would I carry it out?

Thanks

Soldering a PCB trace back is not for the novice mate, requires a good quality variable temp/swappable tip iron & low temp solder.
The wire glue (more like a paint in all honesty) is far easier for trace repair work .
It sets hard , you can solder to it.
Card really help more as I have no idea where you actually need to solder on that little board , I assumed the 3+3 rows of holes are for the connector pins ??
I've never opened a ps3, only 360's, old ps2 & ps1's - not touched a console innards for years :-/

Look at the connector in the second photo which I am holding. It was originally soldered into the five rectangluar spaces which are now empty. The circular holes is not where the connector goes. I understand what you mean about the wire glue. However I am confused on whether the wire glue would hold the connector down which was originally soldered or whether I would need to solder that.

I hope you understand does make it far difficult if you haven't opened a PS3 but thanks for the help so far

The actual connector is fine, can you see the five pads on the pcb board they are where it was originally soldered to. Sorry for the confusion.

I'll try and grab an image of how it should look normally so it makes it clearer for you.
