PS4 audio through PC?

I am trying to run my PS4 audio into my PC so I can listen to music/other while playing PS4. I found a way to do it, although i don't think it's the best. I ran the audio out from my monitor to a female 3.5mm then an aux cable into my PCs 3.5mm mic line in and set it up as stereo audio, and then select listen to device. While this does work, and i can take advantage of my PCs sound card, there is a small amount of feedback through my headphones, I do not know why this is or whether or not it is bad for my PC. The feedback isn't really noticeable as long as the in-game volume and/or audio from PC is loud enough to drown it out, but i cant help but think there is a proper way to do this.

Any help would be appreciated. BTW I don't have a dedicated sound card, it's just built into my motherboard and therefore I have no other audio inputs on my PC that I know of.

Something i just noticed is that the left and right channels are switched too

I would imagine that the feedback is because the speakers are acting as microphones. Speakers and microphones are basically the exact same device, just on a different scale; microphones have a small magnet that moves because of sound waves creating electric pulses, while speakers have a small magnet moved by electric pulses creating sound waves. So it is possible the speakers for your monitor are picking up some noise as a microphone, and it gets transferred on the audio out plug as well as the sound from the PS4.

The most elegant solution I can think of to eliminate this would be to get an HDMI video/audio splitter. Then you can split the audio from the PS4 directly, bypassing the monitor and avoiding the feedback from the speakers...

You still probably won't be getting perfect audio out of it, but it should work a bit better than using your monitor as an audio splitter.
