PS4 controller button not working- L1 button is constantly being triggered

My PS4 controller's L1 button is constantly being triggered. The button is completely free which means i can click it without it feeling sticky, hard, or stuck. This happened to me today when i was playing dark souls. I was running around with my character and all of a sudden they started holding up their shield. In dark souls, L1 is used to hold up your shield. I thought maybe i touched the touch pad or the button was stuck, but i wasn't. I am playing dark souls on my PC with a wire connected. I tried my second controller and it worked. So it has something to do with the first controller. I opened up my controller and checked for dirt, etc. I re aligned the rubber pice and it still doesnt work. I even used the controller on my ps4 and it still the same problem. Does anyone know why this is happening? is it a power issue? Please help.

Replace the controller, button is broken.
