PS4 external storage

I bought a seagate 8tb external HDD+hub to use with my PS4 pro. I use the cable provided, with the system detects the device but when I go to format it, the system says I need to use a minimum 500gb device, use a 3.0 usb and finally the device needs to be connected. Resulting in the HDD not formating. I've tried every usb port on the PS4 system nothing....
HELP.
