hello my main wifi router has way to many people connected to it which is causing my ps4 to get a very poor signal..

i was wondering if anyone here would know if it was possible to hook up another wireless router to the main modem creating a second network just for the ps4...

also would this second signal be better then the one used by the entire house? or would it still be weak because of all the other traffic on the main wifi routers signal mucking up the modem.

i knew wired is the best option but its not in the picture right now as connection is in the basement and ps4 is two far away.

thanks for any help!

Solution
Correct

Plug in to wall outlet near router, connect via Ethernet; plug the other end in near device, connect via Ethernet cable
You must plug them directly into the wall though. Surge protectors, battery backups and even extension cords will attempt to filter the power and will cause the frequency pulses to get lost.

FYI: if in the future you want to add another device in say an upstairs room to far form the router you can just add-on a single additional adapter as they will talk to each other.
Now if say you want to hookup a smart tv, or roku or other game console, etc where your PS4 is at, you just need to get an Ethernet switch which will give you 4-8 Ethernet ports to connect the rest of your devices.

Solution
you just saved me a whole lot of trouble trying to get two routers to work, these might work out well for me i also have a gaming computer that may daughter uses for less internet intensive games so i can also get her off the wifi signal as well.

No problem.

Just FYI what you were initially asking about doing with two routers is called an Access Point. You can easily convert any router to be an access point. You just configure it to disable DHCP, assign it an IP address, and connect the primary router to the LAN port of the second router/access point (vs the WAN port you would normally use) and you now have a second router while still having one large network (instead of the 2 you would have just plugging in two routers).

I am curious of above solution worked? My problem is PS4 worked fine with DSL internet we just upgraded to Xfinity Comcast faster internet (yes it's faster on everything else in the house) and the PS4 is lagging and bumps you out. It seems we can get on the internet ok with the PS4 but the PSN is not working properly. I have heard this could be a firewall problem. The IT guy at Comcast tried to add the IP address to the Router and it worked a little but still not that great. He mentioned maybe calling Playstation and getting the Port#'s and then call him back. Any suggestions? I am new to this form stuff
