[SOLVED] PS4 On NAT Type 3

So I've been struggling with this problem for over a month ever since my ISP changed my Internet connection from DSL to Optic Fiber and I've been trying to look for a solution ever since. I was actually pretty happy about it at the start since its supposed to be a better connection and it all worked fine for around 2 weeks but, for some unknown reason to me, at the end of week 2 my NAT Type 2 changed to NAT Type 3.

As a note I only use the modem/router my ISP provided me which is a Huawei HG8245H (appears to be an all in one router) and I noticed the router itself displays 2 different Gateways, the one from WAN which is of the 172.X.X.X type and the one from LAN which is 192.X.X.X type.

I tried calling my ISP several times to solve this problem but the best thing they could do was to tell me to port forward the router, so I tried it but it didn't work (nor did assigning the ps4 to DMZ). UPnP won't work either.

Looking through the Internet another problem could be that I'm being assigned a private IP Address by my ISP, I called them and according to them I have a public IP Address.

What else can I do to solve this? my ISP isn't being of much help.

As a second note, if I try to trace a route to google.com through the command console with my pc, the first 2 hops occur through first the 192.X.X.X Gateway then through the 172.X.X.X Gateway.
Is it possible that this all in one modem/router is causing a double NAT situation? If so, How could I solve this?

Solution
A large chunk of ip addresses that start with 172 are private ip.

It is pretty easy to tell. Go to whatsmyip or similar site and if the ip you see matches the ip you see in the wan ip it is a public ip. If it does not you have a private ip.

Well that's what I thought, indeed the IP displayed on whatsmyip is different to the WAN IP.

Is there a workaround to this problem? as I mentioned before, my ISP is so intent on telling me that I have a public IP even though that is not true, so I pretty much doubt they can help me.

Call them and ask them since they are giving a public IP to tell you what it is....and then laugh at them if they say the 172 ip is public.

Maybe call and talk to the billing people and see if they offer a static public ip for a fee. They likely will also know if you are suppose to get public or private ip on the normal contract.
