Question PS4 to Projector

I'm trying to hook up my PS4 to an old projector I have. The projector only has VGA input so I got an hdmi to VGA adapter. This worked great with my computer. It also worked great for the PS4 at first then after about 10 minutes it would cut in and out and eventually stopped. I've tried changing the settings on the PS4 but I still get the same problem.

Adapter may be getting too warm for itself after 10mins. Try wrap a cold pack in a cloth and see if it helps, then you know it's the adapter.

It didn't feel warm. I watched saw on a video someone put a HDMI splitter in between the PS4 and adapter and that seems like it worked no idea why but if it works it works.
