Im trying to decide if i should use a wifi extender or ethernet cord for my ps4. My ps4 is on the other side of my house from my router which in turn makes the internet really bad. I was wondering if i shoukd get a wifi extender or an ethernet cord and run the cord acroas the floor to my room. I know cord would be better but i have dogs amd live with other people so i dont know if it is worth possibly having to buy new ones every so often.
A wireless extender tends to reduce wireless performance, since throughput is typically halved vs. connecting directly to router. You should avoid an extender if at all possible, especially for gaming.
A wired connection is your best bet. With careful planning you may be able to route it without running across floors (in corners through drywall) but you may want to spend a little more effort to make a permanent installation.
Other options are powerline adapters (hit and miss performance depending on electrical line condition), or MoCA adapters.
