Hi,

I'm using a PS5 with my LG 27GP950 monitor.

If I run at 4K @ 120HZ (in HDR), the colour changes to YUV422 (rather than RGB).

I've seen conflicting advice online. Is this a system limitation, or have I missed something?

Thanks...

If you are using HDMI 2.1, this shouldn't happen.
I'll give you a few options that might be the cause of this.

  1. the monitor has 2 HDMI ports. Maybe 1 of them is 2.1 and the other is 2.0.
  2. Your HDMI cable is not capable of 2.1 speeds.
  3. This is something in either the PS5's options of the monitors.

I just searched as I had a feeling this is normal for the PS5. First thing I found confirmed what I remembered from a detailed review of the PS5

“Among other features, it supports Dynamic HDR and full chroma subsampling. However, playing a game at a 120Hz refresh rate, the console automatically downgrades the output to 4:2:2 chroma subsampling.”
