Hello. Can someone help me out. So i noticed on my disc drive that cd goes out fine while the insert has for me like 3 stages of how the disk can go in. I will line them.
  1. All normal with even speed
  2. Same as 1 just the last end of disc goes in bit slower.
  3. Its a very rare ocassion can happen 2-3 times in maybe 20 disc inserts and eject disc goes halfway in and then it stops for 1-2 sec before more louder sound than usual comes from disc drive. Like it has to use much more power to suck the disc in. Console is standing upside on the stand. Anyone else with similar experience or knows how to fix it? In all 3 stages disc is read properly and game works fine. Drive still works the same as before just those messed up inserts are causing me to panic... Pls help

Solution
had many CD/DVD disc tray's slide mechanism either start to function abnormally or just malfunction completely over time.

sometimes they can be joggled back into a correct positioning and slide fine again, sometimes they just never sounded or slid right again, and sometimes they would fail altogether.

if within return period with the retailer you should be contacting them about a replacement or refund.
if not, contact Sony support about it.
it's possible that any attempted fix could damage the device and void any warranty.

Btw how could you joggle it back into position does it need some kind of teardown or is there a simple way?

how could you joggle it back into position
one example is a DVD player of my mothers.
it would get stuck halfway and she would have to manually force it back in.
i just grabbed the tray and shook it around in each direction and felt a "click" as the gears popped back into place.
has worked fine ever since.

tried doing the same thing with a stuck Blu-ray drive on my media center system and felt a "crunch" instead.
turned out i broke the gear and it has to be manually ejected/inserted now.

so be careful if attempting.
if Sony could determine that it was user error that caused any damage they would not replace the unit.

Tried doing what you said and no click was heard gears must be in place then i guess...

lie it down horizontally and see if it works any differently... Try a factory reset...
Always remember one thing in electronics: "dont try to fix something that aint broke"
But if u still feel anything is not working, contact sony...
Tried all that 😀 works the same way as before.

It works horizontal now but question is why it works smooth in horizontal while in vertical is <Mod Edit> up perhaps

Idk why it is but horizontal works better for me now question is why vertical wont suck in discs like horizontal does maybe im doing something wromg like letting the disc too soon or too late to be sucked in anyway horizontal also feels more natural to me when sucking discs cuz all my consoles were laying down.
