PSP black screen after not playing it for awhile?

I have the PSP 1001 and not played anymore since 2011. I want to play the PSP again so i charged it and turned it on. It turns out that UMD is working, Memory indicator is flashing, but screen turns on and not displaying anything, just black. Note that i'm not doing anything harmful (Hack,etc) since the last play.

Is there a problem in the Hardware?
How to fix it?

Try rebooting without the memory card in.

Try removing battery for ten seconds. Then replace it and turn the unit on while holding the two shoulder buttons. If something comes up, choose the Recovery folder.
