Hello I purchased the following PSU:

Seasonic M12II - 620 bronze

And the following GPU:

ASUS Strix GTX 970.

The strix needs a 8 pin connector that seems to have a different pattern than the 8 pin connector on my PSU. What can I do to resolve this?

I have 2 free 6 pin PCI-E slots on my PSU and a couple 4 pin (straight) slots.. please help!

Solution
there's at least TWO DIFFERENT 8pin plugs - and they're NOT supposed to be the same. it's no accident. one is 12V for CPU, the other is 12V for GPU. for the most part, the 12V and GND lines are opposite on those two connectors, so yeah generally a bad idea to try to force one where it doesn't belong. many modular PSUs also use yet another 8pin on the housing to plug in the various cables. that's just for more fun and confusion.
But the 6+2 male connector pattern (it looks like an 8 since it seems to be joined) doesnt match the GPU female pattern.. im talking about the shape of the plastic pin housing

Here's the website:

Make sure you are using the right cable, it sounds like you are trying to use the 8p intended for the CPU (EPS written on it). The +2 might be clipped on, but it should not be connected.
