Hi. I am building a ryzen system. I have a corsair cxm550 PSU and an Asus Rog Strix b450f. Ryzen 5 2400g. The case I bought came damaged, so I'm waiting on the new from Amazon. I was trying to bench test my set up to make sure my parts were good. I installed my CPU with the stock Wraith Stealth cooler. Installed my ddr4 in A2 and B2. Both slots labeled as primary. I connected my PSU to the board. I powered on my PSU, the ROG logo on the IO shield lit up. neither my CPU nor my PSU fans went on. nothing else happened. Just the logo on the MB lit up. This is my first build, so I'm not sure if something is defective or not. Inside the PSU i noticed a white, glue looking substance on alot of the components. I read this is a silicone glue and completely normal. My question is: Is there a defect in any of my components? Did I do something wrong?

ROG Strix b 450f
GSkill Tridentz 2*8 3000Mhz
Ryzen 5 2400G
Corsair CXM550

Oh, I totally didn't see that you had just powered on the psu only. It's definitely because you need to short the two pins. Your mobo manual will tell you where to plug your power button into. It's those.
It's hard to troubleshoot without test parts, but if it isn't making it to post, then I would assume something is defective with the mobo or psu. If you have a multimeter, I would check that each rail is outputting the correct voltage. Also, double check that all of your connections are secure. Do you get any beep codes or led codes on the mobo?

No, I don't get any codes. No beeps nor leds. I don't have it connected to the case. I saw a video by Jayztwocents about a power button on the MB, but I have not found one. The only thing that happens is the ROG logo on the board lights up.

How do identify which pins that is? I just read that a way I can test my PSU is to use a paperclip and connect the green wire to the black wire. I don't want to damage anything. I've already had to send the case back. Luckily that will be here tomorrow.
