Psu and graphics

i have a iball LPE223-400psu(250W). Will i be able to support a nvidia 9600GT with the help of this psu. If no, then what else good cards can i get by not upgrading my psu. cards which will be able to support games released till 2009 will satisfy me. 😱

it really depends on the rest of your system. A decent 350-450w psu should be fine. 250w is not enough for the gfx and the system. To be honest not many cards, 250w is really weak, and i think iball is a cheap generic brand. Best bet is to upgrade the psu to a decent make like corsair.

I dont understand if you are asking "only for the graphics card" or for the whole system. In general, if possible, throw that psu away as soon as possible.

The real problem with generic brands is they can damage your components becouse they dont have any security systems. So if you can afford a decent PSU, get rid of that one.

Umm....then your unaware that a Athlon 700 uses more voltage than a modern day quad core.

ok so your telling me for a system that is 700mhz you need a psu the same or higher than todays systems, sweet, i will just go pull the 1000w psu out of my 1998 system. I am saying if he has rubbish components then there is no point on upgrading the psu unless he is doing the rest of the system.

Ok kid, yes I'm telling you that you need the same psu for a 700mhz system as you do for a modern day cpu, as long as the other components are the same.

Good luck pulling a 1000w psu out of a 1998 system. They didn't even have 500w psu's back then, because the other components were not demanding. For instand they had tiny little vidoe cards with 1mb of memory that you could upgrade to 2mb.

I wasnt just talking about the cpu mate, i was talking about the whole system , mobo,ram,cpu . So no you dont need the same psu for an old pc as you do a modern one. Glad we cleared that up, can sleep tonight now
