PSU and Motherboard Question

I know I probably sound like a bit of an idiot here (I'm not extremely familiar with the PSU and motherboard relationship), but does it matter what I kind of PSU I buy to hook up to my Motherboard? Are there specific types?


I ask this because I'm going to upgrade my GPU, but my PSU isn't capable.

The main thing that matters is you actually get one that's good (mainly go by brand) and not a $20 one. What is the GPU that you want so we know what kind of power it should be (mainly just how many PCI-E power connectors it needs) along with a budget.

Just to be safe, it might be a good idea to list your motherboard and case just in case you have an unusual setup.

Good brands are Seasonic, Corsair, Antec, XFX, PC Power and Cooling, and most Rosewills.
