PSU blew, recommendation for a new one please

So I've read the sticky but that still leaves me with a lot of options. I'd like to know what you guys think would be the best.

I originally had a CiT 750W Black Edition which did fine until it died today, after a power cut. Computer specs are:

Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 965 Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.4GHz
Memory: 8192MB DDR3 RAM
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570
MOBO: Asus m4A88TD-V EVO/USB3

Its always possible to re buy the old one I used, but I'd like to see if there is a PSU that would be better or cheaper. What power supply would you recommend? If theres any more information you need just ask, thanks.

Just to clarify, 650W will enough? The sticky says that a GTX 570 needs 550W, is an extra 100 watts enough for the rest of the system?

Also is it worth buying a surge protector?

The 550W that it recommends includes everything in the system combined, not just the GPU, so you're good with 650W.

Amps on the 12V rails is more important than watts. Nvidia specifies that the GTX 570 requires a 550W PSU with at least 35A on the 12V rail with (2) 6-pin PCIe connectors. The OCZ ModXstream 500W actually meets those requirements: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341016
Both the XFX and the Corsair Enthusiast PSUs listed above are great PSUs, but you could save some money by getting the 550W versions or the OCZ I linked to.
