Yesterday I tried to hear my PSU sound when idle (pc shut down). And I hear something like 'electrical buzzzz'. It happen both in my 1 year old PSU and 10 years PSU. Of course the 10 years PSU have bigger 'buzzz'.

Is that normal?

I dont find any problem at all actually, just curious what is that sound?

Which PSU is it ? Make/brand and exact Model number of both the PSUs ?? Buzzing sound occurs while in idle desktop mode, or complete system shutdown ?

They're Be Quiet System Power U9 500W and Tagan StoneRock TG500-U37 500W.

The buzzing (high pitch) sound happen when system completelu shutdown, but PSU switch still on. Be Quiet sound is too small. I need to put my ear near it to hear. And Tagan sound is louder than Be Quiet, but still I need to put my ear near it. And it's not fan sound.

If the system on (idle), I cant hear it because the buzz covered by the case fan sound.

So, you're getting EMI from something else on the same circuit feeding into your PSU. My kid's PSU does the same thing when she uses a powered USB hub plugged into the same strip.

Try it again with everything superfluous to the PC itself unplugged. No USB devices, etc. Just the PC itself. Does it still buzz?

Also, on a side note, that Tagan is older than civilization itself. Don't use it.
