Every now and then a buzzing sound comes from my PC and what I believe to be the PSU and what sounds like the fan. However by unplugging the computer and leaving it for a few minutes the sound is fixed which to me doesn't make sense for this to be the fan. The sound will then not come back for several days. The PSU is old (maybe getting near to 7-8 years now) and could probably do with replacing anyway but I am not really in a position to do that at the moment therefore I have a couple questions:
  • Would unplugging the computer really do anything to fix the fan? If I don't unplug the computer and just turn it back on the vibrating sound doesn't go away.
  • Is the PSU still likely fine to use despite this for now until I can get a new one?

You forgot to mention the make and model of the PSU and what it's powering(or has been powering since).

Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model.
