Psu cable problem

i got this psu

now the problem is its 6 pin and 8 pin connector is powered from same slot and i cannot use a 4 pin to 6 pin converter because

all the molex connectors are also powered from a single point of the psu . now i am thinkinking is this psu can be used or not

because a gtx 560 ti needs two 6 pin (although the power requirement is within its range and tt is the only best brand available here and this psu is within my budget).

i have posted a similar thread in graphics sector but i closed it and posted in this part (sorry for that)

now my problem is why both the pci -e connector is on same cable ?

serial by from top

1.24 pin main
2.12v atx
3.6+2 pin and 8 pin pci-e
4.peripheral or molex
5 and 6. sata connectors

(the drawing is from tt website and the 450 and 550 watt models have same cables.i have the 550watt model)

so any help would be greatly appreciated.

e-bay is not an option for me( shipment to my place would cost min. 40 usd )

and that is not my biggest problem either. the problem is the connection as both connector is from same source( visit the site about the psu and you will see only one slot for pci-e connector.)

have you checked how many watts can be pulled on that rail?


you should be fine by using a converter cable if the power supply is rated high enough on that rail.


it will tell you in amps. if that rail outputs 12v its 12 times the amount of amps give you the watts or the power that can be drawn from it

the psu can give max. 42 amp on single 12v rail and watt is not a problem either. the problem is both the pci-e connector is powered

from the same slot or source on psu and from a single cable (see cable drawings). this is my problem.

I understand that you have both PCIe connectors on one cable. TT designed the single cable to provide the proper voltage to each of the PCIe connectors on that single cable. It is not an uncommon practice for PSU mfrs to place both PCIe connectors on a single cable. Have you attempted to connect everything and boot the PC?

The fact that they are both on the same cable set isn't a problem

no i haven't connected the psu yet because of my confusion. and i do not have the 560 ti (haven't bought it stiil just upgrading slowly

budget problem )

so any other way to test the pci-e connectotrs?

and if the psu work i am thinking maybe i can cut the extra 2 ports of the 8 pin connectors as they are only grnd. line according to

cable design to make another 6 pin connector is this possible(sorry if it sounds absurd)

yes i am confused about the same kind of connection.

now the next problem- how do i change the 8 pin to 6 pin as a gtx 560ti needs 2 6 pin and i only have a 6+2 pin and a 8 pin.(without

using converter. i am afraid i would not find one )

You're making it out to be a problem when there isn't one, unless you don't have at least two spare 4-pin Molex peripheral connectors available on the modular four 4-pin Molex & FDD cable.

i have spare molex connectors but i heard to connect a 4 pin to 6 pin connector safely the 2 molex have to be on different cables(i read this on a forum page in this site) which i don't have(see my 1st post and the link i gave)

unless you say it is safe to connect 2 molex from same cable i have to look for 8 pin to 6 pin connector.
