I have a dell t3500 and want to upgrade the graphics card from Quadro 4000 to Gtx 1080, but the 1080 takes one 8 pin pci-e and my psu only has one 6 pin. I have the 875 watt dell H875EF-00 PSU. It was plenty of power but I can't use a gtx 1080. It has the plug in cable, (the one that just plugs into the PSU and has all the other ones coming out of it,) is there any way I could replace just the cable without having to spend $200 on a new PSU?

Your not going to find a replacement cable with an 8 pin pcie connector.

When they came up with the extra power plugs for video cards, they made 2 flavors. 6 pin and 8 pin. If you look at both you will notice they each have 3 12V lines (normally yellow). So, they supply the same amount of power, right? No ... the 6 pin is rated for 75 Watts and 8 for 150 Watts. This means the 8 pin may have thicker wires and the components in the power supply will be rated for more current. Now, there are companies that sell a 6 pin to 8 pin converter and they work ... until something melts ... maybe. When you draw 150 Watts of power over wires and components that were made to a 75+ Watt standard sometimes they work and sometimes they melt. So...

$200 for a new PSU ... that's a pretty nice PSU. May I recommend:

Assuming they fit in your case.
