PSU/Cablemod Connectors dont match

So I started putting together my new pc today and when I was connecting my cablemod adapter kit i noticed the connector from the PSU and the cable mod are not the same. The 24 pin connector fits fine its the 8 pin that doesnt match, now the cablemod connector matches perfectly on the Motherboard but not on the psu side. Did I order the wrong kit or is this a mistake on cablemods part. I can still connect the cable mod kit to the psu just want to make sure its safe to do so.

PSU - EBGA 850 BQ
Board - ASUS CROSSHAIR VI HERO
Cable kit - CableMod Basic ModFlex Cable Extension Kit - Dual 6+2 Pin Series - RED

Thats the wonder of power supply cables, they have increased compatibility.
Square and round pins can go into square holes. But only round can go into round holes. As long as the cable physically fits you shouldnt have any issues.
