Hello everyone

i am ultra noob on pc building and i would like to ask you 2 questions.

First of all i have a psu Chieftec CTF-750-14CS 750W and i bought a 2080

My previous one was a gtx 770 which has PCIe 1 8-pin and 1 6-pin cables and that's the only cables i have.

The new card need 2 x 8-pin cables.

I went in a few physical stores but i was nt able to find some.

What kind of cables should i buy ?

Am i looking for 8pin male to male?

Replace this PSU ASAP. Do not even power up the GPU by using this PSU. It's a very poor/inferior quality power supply unit, and Chieftec PSUs cannot be trusted. Not recommended for high-end GAMING PCs. It might even damage other PC components in the long run.

Do not use any MOLEX adapters to power up the RTX 2080 either. Get a new compatible PSU.

As they said above, trash that PSU immediately. It has no business being around other components, let alone an RTX 2080.

What are your full PC pecs?

Sorry, we PC nerds have strong feelings towards PSU’s.

These are all great choices:

https://www.newegg.com/corsair-rmx-series-rm650x-2018-cp-9020178-na-650w/p/N82E16817139232

That video card is so nice, in my opinion, that it deserves nothing less than one of those PSU’s. However, someone else may recommend a slightly lower wattage unit.

Yeah, we harp on PSUs, but it's a safety issue and as hobbyists, we do a lot with our equipment and want to keep all those components as safe as possible.

I'm unbelievably cautious with power supplies. While I don't have a load tester, my electrician friend does (they run into the thousands) and when I have any part in any of my rigs fail, the next thing I do is take out the PSU and run it by his house.

That particular PSU (the Chieftec, not the new one) isn't the worst of the worst, but it's not something I'd want to be running quality parts. It's made by CWT, but it's a cut-rate platform, group-regulation and really cheap capacitors.

Even if the Chieftec didn't kill anything, when it eventually died, you'd have another six or seven years on the warranty for your new Corsair (which has a ten-year warranty).
