Psu caught fire, please advise!

Hi Everyone,

About 15 minutes ago my girlfriends power supply caught fire, sparkes flames and all coming from the fan.

It's a 3 years old power supply and doesn't seem to be an expensive one. She was using it alot in the past few days.

I am tech savy enough to know how to replace it but I'm worried it could be dangerous to touch?

Please advise on how to proceed

Provided you cut the power to it, and don't open up the PSU to mess around with the internals, you should be fine.

Unfortunately, a poor quality PSU (to the point that it caught fire) may well have done damage to other components.

1- unplug asap
2- remove PSU
3- look for physical damage or burn marks on motherboard: if damage, ditch motherboard.
4- if computer is recent, replace mobo and psu
