hey guys
ill start off by giving you my specs:
AMD FX 8 core 8350
Gigabyte 990X-Gaming MOBO
16GB crucial ballistix sport
Zotac AMP! extreme core edition 970 (2)
1TB samsung 840EVO SSD (game is on this)
Corsair CX600 watt PSU

as you can see i have a relatively demanding system but my question is this.:
Do you think that the power supply is causing the lag and gpu/memory utilisation to spike
see here--->http://imgur.com/a/oXucE
any help is much appreciated
cheers,
Jack

Solution

Oh man...
Usually an underpowered GPU will have those drops you see in GPU usage, but not really on the mem usage, would help to know what you were running to get those results, and also to see more data like CPU usage, its voltages etc. HWInfo logs provide all the data to determine what's the problem.

i am running the new mass effect which is quite a cpu/ram intensive game
however i do get smaller spikes on other games such as rainbow six siege
cant get back to you with cpu temps atm as i am at work but will as soon as possible
cheers
any other advice? id quite like to know if i can order a new PSU today that's the thing

yes the usage and utilization was recorder in mass effect and it causes huge lag spikes
unfortunately i cant get back to you with the temps yet however i do know that last night when i was playing mass effect and attemting sli i was getting 62 degrees

i also found this ---> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-UsEirEWQ8
this is exactly what happens in mass effect, going through stages of freezing and not able to stay at a steady 60FPS
the guy who created the vid said a new psu helped solve the prblem.
but i dunno, give me your take?

Oh man I totally missed that you have TWO GTX 970.

Yes your PSU is not only junk its nowhere near enough to do that.

Get yourself a good quality 850W PSU. EVGA G2, Seasonic, XFX TS, Antec HCG.
