My PSU one day was perfect, the next one it had a coil whine that has been bothering me for about a week. I know this doesnt mean computer damage but it will soon cause me brain damage if I keep listening to it. Now, I've read some threads where people, even after replacing the PSU, still have coil whine. Anyone knows how to safely swap PSUs to stop and prevent any further whining?

If I use the PSU calculator, will that ensure me a safe PSU?

My specs are:

Motherboard: Asus Crosshair VI Hero
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1060 3GB
I have one SSD and two Western HDDs
An optical reader
Two fans
Two 8GB DDR4 Ram
CPU: Ryzen 5 2600

And a computer case with a little analog screen that tells me temperature.

Any information appreciated!

Coil whine can also come from the GPU or the motherboard (from the VRM).

So first I would make certain it's coming from the PSU.

If it is...I would go with a quality PSU of a different model. Seasonics have about the best reputation and I haven't heard of any bad models from them.

A PSU calculator will do nothing for you as far as coil whine.

With that system I would go with anything 500 watts or up...but 500 watts should be fine.
