Okay, I build a new PC recently. I have a corsair GS 800 watt and a r9 290 paired with a i5 4590. I noticed when there's this horrible sound coming from my PSU whenever my GPU has a lot to render. These sound is noticeable but not nearly as bad when I'm on the home screen. I thought it was my GPU so I put in my old GPU from a different pc (270x) and the sound was still there but slightly quieter. I assumed the power draw was responsible. ANYWAY I left my PC on while it was on the home screen and left for work... When I returned it was noticeably better. I wonder if I left it in game or ran a stress test would I see further improvement?

Some have reported that their coil whine was reduced when they ran their GPU on FurMark GPU Stress Test for eight hours. It's not a guaranteed solution, just anecdotal experience from some that have had the problem.

You can initiate an RMA with Corsair for a replacement. Even a replacement may not resolve the problem. The GS800 is now a discontinued product.
