Hello all,i recently start building a new gaming pc,i5-4460,sapphire r9 280 dual-x,hdd and one ssd.I did a stupid thing and bought a noname psu (this one http://www.e-shop.gr/deer-de146xd-550w-psu-p-PER.641607 with 2 years warranty) and now I am bumped cause I can't afford buying a new one.I don't intend to overclock, only will use all my cases fans(7 all of them),but I am worried about my wrong choice.A friend of mine gave me his cooler master 500w ps-500-psap-a3 (this one http://www.coolermaster.com/powersupply/extreme/extreme... ) .So my question is,which one should I use?Cause the noname has 80% efficiency and the Cm has 70%.and also the 12rail?i think the noname give more power to gpu,am I wrong? Thanks in advance!!!

Solution
They are both garbage units, and I would replace them with a better quality 550w PSU ASAP. I guess the newer one may be fine for now, but at least the cooler master is a known name brand. I wouldn't trust either to run a stable system for long. Use whatever one has the best safeguards, like over voltage protection, under voltage protection, 80+ certification, and stuff like that. At least there would be a less likely case of ruining any of your other components I guess.

The cooler master says it gives at 12v rail 18a,and the Deer at12v rail 29a

Well I intend to upgrade it in few months or so,but can't afford one now so I guess I just have to choose one for now of those 2

The Deer will more than likely fry your components... According to quick Google search they seem to have a very high failure rate. I would go with the CM... The only problem is its right about at the high point on Watt usage for that system. Your looking at about 450W with that build and thats just to run on idle. I would suggest using that until you can get at least a 600W

With the DEER you would need and adapter , it only has 1 PCIE power connection. You don't want to use an adapte on a poor power supply.
Συνδέσεις DC: 1 x 20+4Pin Main Connector, 2 x Serial ATA Connectors, 2 x HDD Connectors, 1 x Floppy Drive Connectors, 1 x PCI-E connector

With the Cooler Master you would also need an adapter , not a good idea.

Neither of these power supplies should be used to run a R9 280.

I would seriously just see if you can return the Deer PSU and get your money back... Just like Blackbird said these PSU arent not great for what you have at all. If you have to just plug in the CM but get a new one ASAP! Otherwise youll risk damage to your new components.
