Hey everyone. I know better PSU units are on the market but I already paid for the HX1050. I was accidentally sent the HX1000i and I contacted Customer Support and they said I could keep it or ship back for the original unit.

My question is which is better? My build requires this type of PSU and as I mentioned I know I could have gotten a better unit from another manufacturer. My real issue is simply HX1000i or the HX1050? Both are the latest versions from Corsair.

Thank you in advance!

Simply put, HX1000i > HX1050.

HXi is a newer series from Corsair, is Platinum rated (vs HX's gold rating) and uses top notch components. Though both are CWT OEM but the HXi will be the top choice among the two. This score is from one of the most comprehensive reviewing website around:

HX1050: 8.6/10

HX100i: 9.6/10

Although you don't really need 1kW PSU, a decent quality 850W is more than enough for GTX 980 SLI.

yup, tbh you only need a decent 750w May I ask why your build needs 'this kind of PSU' do you mean a Corsair or specifically a HX series?:)

I very much appreciate your response. I did see both reviews but the HX1050 review that you cite is from 2011 and they have modified and released updated versions since. I am essentially asking about the HX1050 of 2014 vs the HX1000i of 2014. You got the latter correct and that is much appreciated.

As for questions about my need for this much power? That is negligent and distracts from the point that I have to pick from one of these two units. I missed the mark on being able to get a more efficient model from another manufacturer and these are my choices.

I meant specifically to Corsair due to the vendor I bought from and these being my two options. I know the power leaves overhead for my setup but that was done by design due to upcoming upgrades.
