Hey guys, In the middle of building my new rig. I have a G3 1000W that has two CPU Power outlets. My Gigabyte Aorus ULtra has the normal 8 pin and a extra 4 pin. On my PSU cable both cables have split (4 pins each) 8 pin outlets. So...I just want to be sure I have this right.

I of course plug CPU1 in the spit 4's into the main 8 pin CPU power. Then on the CPU2 do I just plug 1 of the 2 4 pins and leave the other off to the side?

Thanks!

Solution
Unless you are doing some advanced liquid nitrogen overclocking or similar, you don't even need to plug in the 4 pin. The 8 pin outlet will supply you with all the power you need.

As lucky wrote, you don't need the extra four pins unless you are doing something outrageous. Even #18 wires from the PSU can carry over 5A and four of those can already provide in excess of 240W. At double the stock TDP of most high-end desktop chips, we're well into extreme OC territory at that point.
