My psu would give out crackling, static-y noise if the gpu is under load. I tried to remove the gpu power(the 8 pins) and the psu sounds fine. this is after i tried to test the gpu stability with furmark for ~5 minutes, consuming about 130-140 watts of power in gpuz. Any ideas?

PC specs:
Phenom 965 @stock
Gigabyte UD-3 990fx
Sapphire 480 nitro+ oc 4gb
4gb ram corsair value
seasonic s12ii 620w

have you checked the fan for obstructions. It could be that as the fan speeds up it starts making noise. If this sin't the problem then you should observe the inside of the PSU (don't open it just look through fan) in the dark and see if you can see any sparks or flashes. It could be a broken connection that is arching. You should make sure not to handle the psu while in operation just incase. If you see sparking replace immediately if not then take it to computer repair or replace.
