[SOLVED] PSU damaged mobo but not all parts.

So i remember the moment when my psu started to emit a weird smell causing it to damaged my mobo at the end. The thing is the only damaged parts was the processor and the mobo. Rams and my geforce gt 630m was still okay when i put it on a new system. Why is that? I thought a generic psu can literally damage all components if things go wrong.
