evening chaps,
last night after playing ARK for about 30 minutes my PC just shut down as if i had unplugged it from the mains socket. since it was my day off and the miss not around i pretty much lpayed games almost all days so the PC was under heavy usage that day.
when it shut down it did so quietly and no smoke coming out of my case. however there was a faint burnt smell coming out of it detectable only after sticking my nose close to where the PSU is sitting. i have recently upgraded my GPU to an gtx960 which i installed 2 weeks ago and the PC was fine running GTA 5 and such games.

after googleing all day today i think the shutdown points towards the PSU. i have tried to unplug all cables from the motherboard and plug them back in again. i cant test the current of the PSU since i havent got the gear to do it
specs are as follows

gygabyte gtx 960 windforce 2gb
2 amd 4GB ram chips
AMD FX 4170 quad core processor 4.20 Ghz
TESLA 650TE-BR ATX switching power supply
win 7

iam about to buy a new PSU just in case but is there a way to tell if it is actually the problem?
i do admit there is some dust build up inside the case and the fan generally was quite loud playing games.
thank you for the time to help out :)

For PSU do a paper clip test

that PSU from the link is a good quality but you can get cheaper PSU with same quality. (system with GTX 960 needs good quality 430w+ PSU)

Here you can see which PSU are good

From Dabs i would get this one - http://www.dabs.ie/products/xfx-450w-proseries--80plus-bronze-core-edition-full-wired-psu-8DK2.html?src=3

But if you want some space for later upgrades to your system - http://www.dabs.ie/products/xfx-550w-core-edition-80--bronze-psu-8K0S.html?src=3
