PSU doesn't have a 6 pin connection for GPU, what are my options?

Trying to power a GTS 450, but my 400 watt PSU doesn't have a 6 pin to power it. Do I have any options other than buying a new PSU?

If the power supply doesn't include a 6+2 pin PCIE cable, then I would replace the power supply at the same time as installing the new graphics card.

There are 6 pin adapters available, but that is ignoring the fact that the power supply may not be suitable for use with a graphics card.

you can use a Molex to PCI-e adapter to power that card. They are duel four pin connectors that adapt to a single 6 pin PCI-e plug.

I was thinking about an AMP to 6-pin adapter, is that safe/compatible?

I'm not sure what you are referring to AMP is a brand of connectors. The most common adapter is for a 4-pin Molex cable to 6-pin adapter. They are safe, but the power supply may still be insufficient. Cheap power supplies often do not have the power output that they are rated at.
