Question PSU doing deep rumble noise depending on its position

I forgot to take the name and model of it but it's 6 years old now, 350w PSU.

So the PSU is on the top of the PC, fan facing down. Once I start the PC, it makes a deep noise. Don't know how to really describe it. Anyway, once I go to desktop and wait for, maybe 2-3 minutes and restart my PC, the noise is completely gone. It's like it never happened.

If I put my PC on its side (fan facing left or right), it does not make any noise. Like it should. I have no idea what it could be. I've tried jump short it but the results are the same.

The noise doesn't seem to be coming from the fan.

Any ideas?

This is during boot. 1 min after its in desktop, I restart it and makes absolutely no noise.

Why does it stop doing it after a min or two then?

Same reason a worn out engine can sound rattly but stop when it warms up--the heat reduces the clearances enough to make it quiet. You could test this by preheating it with a hairdryer.

The fan should be replaced--no telling when it'll seize up on you.

Bearings change as they heat up and run.
The lubrication changes.
The bearing can even shift and run in a new path.

Sounds like an unbalanced fan.
What is the make/model of your psu?
What is your graphics card?

A 6 year old 350w psu may be a cheap one which you should consider replacing regardless.

Yep, if I heat it with a hairdryer, it starts normally, no noise.

It's my grandparents, its an AMD APU A8 3850. They really only use it for very very basic browsing.

I will tell them to either replace the fan or just replace the PSU.
