The G1+ was released a couple of months ago yet I can't seem to find any reviews on it. I will need a new 750W PSU for my next gaming rig and can't decide which PSU is better for my system.
Both the 750W 80Plus Gold G1+ and the GQ versions are about the same price $97-99 on Amazon right now. Can anyone tell me the difference between both versions and which would be better for my system, or if you have a better recommendation other than the two. Thanks

Seen absolutely no reviews or stripdowns of the g1+!

So you either take your chances with it , assuming its way better quality than the old g1 simply because of the 10 year guarantee OR play it safe & buy the gq which is a well reviewed & well regarded unit with a 7 year warranty.

I give evga short shrift on new unreviewed units since the b3 range fiasco where the overload protection was a complete failure.

The gq is a great unit, the g1+ may be better , it may not be.

You sure you need 750w ??

There are a lot of top quality 650w units in that price range or lower.

The recommended PSU for my system is 700W, thought it'd be better to just bump it up to 750W since it opens up better options of PSUs that I can choose from. I'm gonna go ahead and give the G1+ a try since it is actually fully modular (not semi). Hopefully it is much more improved than the older G1 model. While the GQ is a great PSU, I've read reviews about it having ripple issues, though I'm not much of an overclocker, maybe the G1+ would be better in that regard?

^ Maybe its better in regards to ripple , maybe its not ??

As I said , nobody knows , not a single stripdown & even on the evga official forums no one knows what platform its based on at all.
The original g1 was honestly not that good at all

Whats your system component list ??

Because unless youre running a wildly overclocked cpu & a pair of gpu's its massively unlilely you need a 750w psu at all.

Pretty much any mainstream cpu+single gpu combo can be run on a 550w psu , Id say 650w is likely the most popular psu size by a fair stretch as most people woild have 150-200w headroom.

i5-8600k
EVGA GTX 1080 SC
MSI Z370 Tomahawk
2x8GB DDR4 3000MHz
Samsung 840EVO 250GB
WD 1TB HDD 7200RPM
Cryorig H7

I guess the 750W might be overkill for my current setup. Will the 650W be sufficient if I were to do light overclocking? The price difference between the 650 and 750W on the G1+ is only $10 though, and a 750W would give me more room if I were to have any upgrades in the future.

I decided to just spend an extra $15 and got the EVGA G3 instead. And I already purchased the H7 cooler a while ago.
