The other day I hit the power cord of my desktop with my foot and it fell out, causing a spark. I tried to turn my computer on with no luck. I decided the first step was to replace the PSU so I did. Now when I turn my computer on the red asus light on my motherboard (ROG Gene) lights up but nothing else turns on. Any ideas on what could be failing? Is my whole pc dead?

Solution
Some boards have a red light come on in a certain area to indicate that a specific piece of hardware has a problem. Check your manual and see if this is the case with your board and if so what piece of hardware is causing the problem.

On the other hand the PSU "spark" incident may have fried your MB and/or other components so do the red light check first.

the light just shows power leading to it, the psu would stop the short from hitting motherboard. most likely it was an error to the system software with an unexpected powerloss. problem is it can be tricky to get it running when all the info in it says heck no. you have a gene right? if so try a bios flashback to restore the main cache on mobo, if no good double check that the new psu is a good one, google can show you how to use a jumper. btw have you tried other outlets around you?

are you using the same cable? if yes try changing it.
When you turn it on, does it make any sound? any cooler working? maybe the optical drive spin? or is it completely dead?
If you unplug everything then press and hold the on/off switch of the pc and release it after 30 seconds, then you plug everything and try again does it work?
