I've had my HX1050 for a little over a year now and I haven't had any problems with it until recently. The power supply fan will on occasion make a buzzing sound and it appears to not be related to anything else in the system. This sound has occurred while the system is idle, gaming, and browsing the web so it's not as if it only happens when a spike in power occurs. The sound can start and stop while doing any of these activities as well. All the rails are within ATX power specifications so I would not assume that that is the issue at hand. If anyone has an idea of what the issue may be that would be most helpful. If you think I need a new PSU, I would ask that you recommend one rated for 24/7 use as I prefer not to turn off my computers. Thank you for any help in advance!

Solution
You don't need a new PSU, just clean your FAN. If have run out of warranty you may open the PSU. Remove the fan, Clean using a blower or a compressed air can. If it still giving the noise, remove the sticker behind the fin(opposite side of the fin attachment) it may have a rubber bush as well sometimes. If present, remove that also. Then add some machine oil into that and close the bush --> apply the sticker. You are good to go.
google videos coil whine see if the unit has coil whine. if it not coil whine...check to see if there dirt in the fan or the power supply is self is over tightened and the fan is hitting the power supply outer case. as the unit still under warranty with a credit card the ps vendor will do a cross ship.

Solution
It's not coil whine, as the noise only occurs when the fan spins up (tested with the case open)
It's not dirt as I cleaned the case this morning thinking that was the problem
I don't understand what you mean by the psu is over tightened exactly, so if you could clarify that would be most appreciated

update: psu fan still makes noise but its very slight. pc froze while being idle but no apparent cause (bios said OC failed but i tested with burn ins so that shouldnt be the issue) not sure if the two are related or not
