PSU fan not spinning?

When doing the paper clip test the Powersupplys fan doesnt spin. Is it supposed to? It does power the fans and all but not the computer.

A lot of new power supplies have fans that will only kick on when the PSU reaches a certain temp. What PSU is it you are testing?

Im not sure of the brand, but it came with my prebuilt Alienware Aurora r6 an 850w

It may only start spinning after gaming for a while. 850W is plenty for that system (GTX 1070 + i7) and if it's a good quality PSU in a well cooled environment it will rarely need to use its fan.

My fan was only making grinding noises so i applied a machine oil without opening the psu. When i turned my pc on, the psu's fan wasn't spinning. I tried everything to make it move but all in vein. Please help me!!!
