You don't want to overheat anything, I'd go with 2200RPM fans or whatever's closest.

i have done it...even if you are horrible at soldering you can do it (as most non AT psus i have seen solder fan leeds directly to pcb).

Is there a certain value of CFM I could be looking for aswell/instead? A lot of the fans in 'thE' d.base are shown by CFM and not by rpm

heh.. that is nice to know... I AM absolutely horrible at soldering, I will probrably get my girlfriend to do it. <irony> It is easier to hold her responsible for potential damages <irony>

I have only really been "working" (read: snatch) with fans from ATs, ATXes I usually just clean.. But in a lot of the ATs fans were connected by two or three pin molex, which was highly convenient.

ya...every AT psu i have seen used connectors...yet every atx i have seen just solderes to a pcb.

Chicks are normally good at delicate type stuff...so im sure it should work out...but i would crack open the psu and have a peak at what you are dealing with before you give her all the glory.

BTW, to ensure not getting zapped...shut of pc, disconnect from surge bar/outlet then hit the on switch a few times that way you drain all of the power from the psus capacitors so you know you wont get zapped or something.

I have been checking out some fans which were extremely nice.. autoadjusting to temperature 1000-2500rpm@10dba-21dba, but I don't suppose I would be able to use them unless I cut the "thermal/read" (yellow) wire, then what is the point I will work something out. Panaflow apparently, is not availible here.

I have also been looking at:
Sharkoon SL 3 Ultra Silent / 14.9-18,5 dBA / 1000-2000 rpm / 43 CFM

But then again there is the variable speedfunction, but on the other hand 18dba is close to silent, but still not the wishful 12 or 14db.

Another idea:
I own a cooler master aerogate II, which has thermal sensors. Yous find it possible to mount a regular fan in the psu, controlled and monitored by the CM-AGII? Or would it be "dangorous" to run wires through the psu? If possible, what would the safe-/die-temps be you recon?
