Hi Everyone :)

Im getting 3 Way SLI with GTX 680s
and im wondering what power supply I should use
and what are the top 3 PSUs currently on the market

if you have any suggestions let me know,
thanks everyone :)

Solution
For a system using a single GeForce GTX 680 graphics card NVIDIA specifies a minimum of a 550 Watt or greater power supply that has a combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 38 Amps or greater and that has at least two 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors.

For a system using two GeForce GTX 680 graphics cards in 2-way SLI mode NVIDIA specifies a minimum of a 750 Watt or greater power supply that has a combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 53 Amps or greater and that has at least four 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors.

Let's do some math.

The GTX 680's power draw at full stress is 307 watts.

307 times 3 = 921 watts

Add the power requirements of your CPU, the 2600k's is 125 watts

Add 100 watts for HDD, SSD, etc

100 + 125 + 921= 1146

Round up to 1200 watts.

Your welcome.

Total Power Supply Wattage is NOT the crucial factor in power supply selection!!! Total Continuous Amperage Available on the +12V Rail(s) is the most important factor.

Overclocking of the CPU and/or GPU(s) will require an additional increase to the combined +12 Volt continuous current ratings, recommended above, to meet the increase in power required for the overclock. The additional amount required will depend on the magnitude of the overclock you are trying to achieve.

no. 680 has max power draw of 225w from the connecters. Its physically impossible to draw more than that.

Generally people are maxing the power consumption of the 680 at less than 200ws

3X 200 = 600w + 200 for cpu ect = 800w

for tri SLI I would say 850w would be 100% safe.

This clearly states that the "System Wattage with GPU in FULL Stress" is 307 Watts
