PSU for 3x470?

I just bought my third GTX 470 last night, and I will need a bigger PSU. Right now I'm running 2 on an Antec Earthwatts 650, and was looking at PSUs in the $100-150 range.

I know that the Corsair HX 850 will work, but it's a tad bit more expensive than other PSUs, such as the Antec TPQ-1000W. Any recommendations on what PSUs will work in my system? The rest of the rig is in my signature.

Thanks all.

I know for a fact that none of those will work. With a max power consumption of 215W each, that leaves only ~100W for my CPU, drives, fans (2 led fans of 5), etc. Plus, that would be running at or over 100% power rating depending on the make, and whether or not I get a defective model.

I may just get the 850HX, unless I can find a thorough review of the XFX 850W Black Edition, but even then, the 850HX is rated for 850W continuous vs. the XFX's 850W max.

Newegg had PCP&C's 950W on sale a month or so ago, and the price basically went down to like $80. I'm kicking myself for not having bought it 😉

I've wanted to get the 850HX just for the modular cables...then again, I'll probably be using ALL of the included cables so it wouldn't make a difference. Thanks for the tip.

Going with the 950TX - it has 2 rebates listed on newegg if I buy it this week (one for $30, one for $10). I doubt both will process, but if they both are offered I should be able to fight for both of them. That drops the price to ~$100. Thanks again.

I fell victim to Newegg's Advanced search :pfff: , the Silencer doesn't have 6 pcie connector's.
I'd go with the Corsair so that I had the right number of connectors without having to use adapters.

I was a bit confused by that as well, since all of the descriptions said quad-PCIe connectors.

I don't care too much about the adapters since I have them, but the $30 rebate drops the PSU down to the price of around their 750W model.

I've filed Corsair rebates before and haven't had issues with them; I just hate the stupid cards :/
