Hello , I bought a new a MSI Z87-G45 and I5-4670k about a week ago and I am just wanting to ask what Psu should I get and if you could just link one from amazon so i could buy it .
I`ll be using a nvidia geforce GT630 and 8GB DDR3 1333 .
I tried early in the morning with a standard power supply 500watt(max) (win power SL-8500BTX) and used something similar to this (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dual-Molex-LP4-4-pin-to-8-pin-PCI-E-Express-Converter-Adapter-Power-Cable-/221288873828?pt=UK_Computing_CablesConnectors_RL&hash=item3385d83f64) for those 8pins but didn`t work tried to turn it but didn`t it work a part from the fan of the graphic card that switched on .
what could the problem be and what should I do ?
thank you .

Either your Graphics Card has broken (not likely) or it is to do with the bad psu you are using, and semi and fully modular power supplies are more tidy, and higher effiency ratings means you get the same wattage, but save on electricity bills, so I can recommend you one based on what you care about?

Even if it was the graphic card the cpu would turn on and the fan of the cpu starts working , for me none of that happened the fan didn`t turn on at all .
For the cable I don`t know i bought today from maplin(was a new one) .
would you recommend any good and affordable psu to buy (could you link one from amazon or ebay )
Thank you .

The one that SR-71 Blackbrid recommended is fine, but you dont need 550W for your build so you could get the 450W version for cheaper, but 550W gives you upgradability for the future

Hello , I just want to tell you that I received the psu yesterday , tried it today the motherboard turned on then off straight away , I removed the cpu to see what was wrong and I saw some damaged pins in that cpu socket , it`s a new motherboard that I have just bought from amazon.com .
yeah another problem :( .
