Ok so my build is simple: 1600x at 4.0ghz 1.36vcore, a 1070 ftw from evga acx 3.0, 2 500gb ssd, 2 7.2k rpm hdd, 2 rgb strips and 1 halo rgb for a 120mm fan from phantek, 4 140mm fans and 1 120mm fan. The pc is a gaming pc with 2 monitors that also serves as a local server for a emby media server, on a normal week its used about 4 to 8 hours a week and on weekends is up almost 15 hours a day.

I have right now a 750w bronze psu from sentey, and I am looking to change into a gold power supply with a warranty. Would a 550w supply be enough ? or I should go for a 650w supply? I plan on getting a better cpu in the near future, probably a 2700x , and a new gpu as the 1070 is barely able to keep 1080p at 120hz in most of the games I play.

A 550 would work but you may want a 600-650 to be on the safe side. As far as PSU model I'm a big fan of the EVGA G3, but the Corsair RM series and Seasonic FOCUS are excellent as well.

Honestly the PSU you have right now is junk, so at lower watts a higher quality PSU will perform the same if not better.

Completely agree with Richie. The PSU is junk. The 1600x @ 4ghz draws about 130w, The GTX1070 draws about 150w max. Along with other system components you're prob touching about 450w max draw. As richie said, a solid 550w will do well. Similarly I love the EVGA Gx line. GQ/G2/G3.

With the potential upgrade to a 2700x though, given it's a 105w part, I'd be looking for a 650w unit to allow a bit of headroom and for further OC'ing.

BTW, the OC on the 1600x @ 1.36 is a win! Not many will hit 4ghz without going over 1.4. Lucky boy :)
