Hey guys,

I currently have the following setup:

Intel Core i5 4570 Quad Core LGA 1150 3.2GHz CPU Processor
LG 24x Internal SATA OEM DVD Burner Drive GH24NSB0
Corsair 4GB DDR3 1600MHz Memory CMV4GX3M1A1600C11
Corsair 4GB DDR3 1600MHz Memory CMV4GX3M1A1600C11
Gigabyte GA-Z87M-D3H LGA 1150 Motherboard
Cooler Master K350 Mid Tower Case
Western Digital WD10EZEX WD 1TB Blue 3.5” 7200RPM SATA3 Hard Drive
Silverstone Strider Essential Series ST50F-ES 500W Power Supply

I have been getting really bad gaming performance recently and was looking at upgrading my Graphics card as everyone I know is telling me thats the problem. I was looking at either a GTX 670 or a GTX 680. However, my dilemma is manly focused around the fact that on the geforce website they state that to power a 680 you would need a minimum of 550w. However, my power supply has a "peak" (whatever that is) wattage of 600? I am just wondering which card to get. Thanks for all your help guys in advance.

Thanks phontonboy I really appreciate it, but do you think that my 500w PSU would be okay on a 770?

Don't worry about the psu , because the GTX 680 has a tdp oft 195w, tge CPU probably around 70-80w and the mobo + storage, infernal devices etc. 100w so it will only consume 365-375w at a maximum load so you are good 2 go

1) The GTX680 is older and overpriced. The card I recommend is the ASUS GTX770 (about $320 through pcpartpicker AND comes with free WATCH DOGS game via NCIX!).

Redeem the game ASAP.

2) The easiest way to check with the Power Supply is if it has enough PCIe (graphics) connectors. The GTX770 needs a 6-pin and an 8-pin connector. Any 600W should have that.
