Psu for Gtx 970

Solution

Since when does Bronze mean low quality? It never did and still does not. There are countless quality bronze units. Not to mention the crappy gold units out there.
According to this :
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html
The Thermaltake smart series is no better than tier 4:
"Tier Four

Built down to a low price. Not exactly the most stable units ever created. Very basic safety circuitry or even thin gauge wiring used. Not for gaming rigs or overclocking systems of any kind. Avoid unless your budget dictates your choice.
"
I personally would recommend something from tier 1 or 2. The PSU is the heart of your system, without it NOTHING works. It is the only component that, if it fails, can destroy all the other components of your system. Never "cheap out" on the PSU, it is false economy.
Good luck!

By the sounds of it OP is reusing an old PSU.
Given that its probably not worth spending more money on a power supply, especially if a 970 is stretching it, as the Armor 2x oc is a budget oriented 970 model. This indicates he/she is on a budget.

Okay, given that you're buying the PSU, get an XFX XTR 650W or EVGA G2 650W.
Both are gold rated, meaning better efficiency
Don't get low quality bronze power supplies or budget gold power supplies, as these have poor quality components and are likely to break at some point in time.

Sorry, phrased my post poorly! :)
Meant to say steer clear of lower quality bronze power supplies.
EVGA, some good Cooler Master PSUs, Corsair, Be Quiet, Seasonic and XFX are good quality units for the most part, but I tend to stay away from the Thermaltake smart range, and no name brands.
These power supplies tend to have low quality capacitors and break down after 6 months of use or so, i've had experience...

I figured as much. It was just my long-winded way of saying that I would not recommend the Thermaltake for use with the 970.

Don't know why OP would make a post only to select what he wants to hear.....even though it doesn't mean what he thinks it means.
There are some good bronze PSUs, but the large majority of brands such as thermaltake and coolermaster along with other lesser known brands use cheap components in their bronze power supplies resulting in a poor quality product.
Yours is one of those PSUs, and is not recommended for purchase.
If you are using it from an old build that is fine, but purchasing a low quality PSU is a bad choice given that it is such a critical component that makes your system RUN in the first place.
