I was just wondering what kind of power suply I need. I'm not very knowledgable about power suplies and such. I have an Asus A7V266-E with an AMD 1700+, NVIDIA Geforce mx440 w\8xAGP, Creative Sound card, Kingston 111 nic,DVD,CD-RW,3-5 fans, and two hard drives, a 60 and a 40 Gig HD. Hopfully I will have four more HD hooked up to the Promise ports.

Up till the 4 extra HDD, I would have said a 300W PSU would be fine. I'm guessing a 350W or 400W will be fine with the extra HDD's in there.

A nice 300 could probably pull that off but I'd go for a nice 400 just to be on the safe side :)
Antec, Fortron Source, and Enermax are pretty nice cost/benifit ratio power supplies.

Go with an Antec TruePower 430watt, and it will last and last, and handle next upgrade most likely.
Mine performs like a champ, and it is pulling a big load. Prescott 3200 and ATIX800XT-PE

My PC is running extreemly hot. The CPU is running up to 160 degrees F. I can't cool it down. even with the five fans going. What is wrong. last time I turned it on, it only took 5-10 minutes to overheat. I have two fans in the front blowing in, two in the back blowing out and a fan on the top blowing in. Am I doing something wrong? I also have an El Cheapo fan on the CPU, but that didn't seem to hurt it untill this week. It overheats just idleing.

I'll try turning the top fan around. I would like to try an air duct on it. would that be a good idea? I don't realy want to do water cooling because it will probably get messy and I will forget to change the water after a while. Would an Intel heat sink and fan work on my AMD 1700+? It just uses thermal compound to hold on to the CPU. I think, there is no bracket or anything.
